Lower Thames Crossing Tunnel Mega Project Tender Announced

 

The Lower Thames Crossing is the most ambitious road project in UK.

With 22.9km (14.3 miles) of new road featuring and two 4.3km long (2.6 mile), 16m diameter tunnels, bored mostly using two large diameter TBMs, works on the mega project could start in around 18 months. A decision is expected in 2022, with construction expected to start later that year.

The Tunnels and Approaches contract is the first of the three main works contracts to be issued, with the Roads North and the A2 M2 contracts expected to be announced early in 2021. The contract notice will be published on November 13th and Bidders will be asked to return a selection questionnaire before the end of the year. Three applicants will be shortlisted and the contract award anticipated in 2022.

At Deltana Engineering we follow up on this project to support from the tender phase one of the consortia participating in the development of the Bill of Quantities (BoQ). Collaborating in the analysis of measurements and supervision of project quantities. Applying our experience as quantity surveyors in bidding processes.
